    Note: Local high school games can be just as fun and won't cost as much as college games. However, the Causeway Classic (football), which is the biggest game between UCD and CSUS, is highly recommended.

    Take your Explorer swimming once the weather heats up. You'll want to make sure the child knows how to swim.

    There are many parks in the Sacramento area in which you can go fishing.

    Note: Children under 18 can fish for free. Adults need to have a fishing license.

    Jump Rope
    Show the Explorer how to jump rope and some fun games.

    Chinese Jump Rope
    Note: A rope will work just fine if you do not have a jump rope. Chinese jump rope is a fun variation of traditional jump rope. For this you will need another person, a chair, a tree, or something to hold up the other end. As a child, Lupe made a Chinese jump rope out of rubber bands and she used a safety pin to close the loop. Questions? Call Lupe.

    Hula Hoop
    Once you get the hula hoop action down, try playing a few games.

    This is a cool, interactive game.

    Bike Riding
    Note: Just make sure they're wearing protective gear, because it hurts when you fall!

    Paper Airplanes
    Note: Show them how to make paper airplanes. You can use colored paper or have the Explorer color the airplane. Have a flying contest and see which planes work and which do not.

    Other Sports Activities
    Go to the park with some equipment (balls, bats, mitts, gloves, or Frisbees) and play a game.
